WE'RE BACK! It was a HIT and our students learned so much about the BUSINESS of theatre while having a BLAST! Last time, we played the game as though we were living in New York. This year, we are playing it right in our own backyard-High School Theater! From mock auditions, calls from your agent, choosing between jobs and parts, practicing college auditions, job interviews, and how to stand out in your rehearsal and more, this class could change your life!
BACKGROUND
We spend lots of time working on our auditions and crafting our art, but how about all the other things that we need to know as an actor? Learn the secrets on how to navigate the interpersonal world of theatre. How to keep and foster your relationships, how important ARE relationships, how to communicate effectively with directors, teachers, and bosses, how to juggle tight schedules, stand out in rehearsal, interview for a job, ask for feedback from an audition, and practice a mock college audition, all while playing a real life game of LIFE!
GAME PLAY
Each student starts as a Freshman in High School with $200 in their bank account. Earn Experience Points (XP) by completing actual challenges. Get Chance Cards that could help you OR could create a road block. Earn money by: interviewing and landing a job, create your dream “side hustle”, or book a commercial. This is a high paced game and a blast to play. All you need is a “can do” attitude and audition materials. Let’s PLAY!
ABOUT
This is for students that already have several songs in their song book, have a resume and headshots. Not for beginning actors.
CLASS EXPECTATIONS
You will need (5) Headshots, (5) resume copies, instrumental tracks for musical auditions. While students will mock audition using their audition materials, this class does not focus on the quality of performance of the audition. We encourage the student to be experimental and try out as many types of auditions they can. The more audition materials the better!
